Fresh Batch Coffee Beans Review: One of My Favorite Local Coffee Roasters

Coffee has become more than just my morning ritual. It’s one of the simple things I genuinely look forward to every day.

Over the years, I’ve tried beans from different local coffee roasters in the Philippines. Some were great, some I only bought once, and a few eventually became regulars on my coffee shelf.

One of those regulars is Fresh Batch Coffee Beans.

I’ve been buying coffee from Fresh Batch since 2020. After years of brewing their beans at home, they remain one of the local coffee roasters I keep coming back to.

My personal favorite is Passion Blend Ver. 2. It’s the one I find myself reordering the most. I also enjoy Saigon, while Hanoi left a good enough impression that it’s another coffee I’d gladly brew again.

But what keeps me coming back isn’t only what’s inside the bag.

It’s also the people behind it.

More Than Just Freshly Roasted Coffee

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Fresh Batch is their commitment to freshness.

Every bag I receive includes a roast date, which gives me a clear idea of when the coffee was roasted.

Fresh Batch also gives their coffee enough time to rest after roasting before it reaches customers. I appreciate this because the beans are already at a good stage for brewing by the time I receive them. I can open a bag and start enjoying the coffee without having to worry too much about whether the beans are still too fresh from roasting.

It may seem like a small detail, but it’s one of those things that makes buying from a specialty coffee roaster different.

I also appreciate knowing more about what I’m drinking.

Fresh Batch provides information about the beans, roast level, origin, and expected flavor profile. When I’m experimenting with different brewing methods, those details give me a better idea of what to expect and what to look for in the cup.

It also reminds me that there’s a much bigger story behind every cup, from the farmers and producers who grow and process the coffee to the people who eventually roast and brew it.

Passion You Can Actually Feel

Another reason I’ve continued supporting Fresh Batch is the person behind the business.

Dennis, the owner, genuinely loves coffee.

Spend some time browsing Fresh Batch’s social media pages and you’ll see posts about new coffees, different origins, roasting, brewing, and other things happening within the coffee world.

For me, that matters.

There are plenty of places where you can buy coffee beans online, but there’s something different about buying from someone who clearly enjoys and understands the same thing you’re buying from them.

That enthusiasm is one of the reasons Fresh Batch has remained on my coffee shelf since 2020.

My Favorite Fresh Batch Coffee Beans

I’ve tried different coffees from Fresh Batch over the years, but there are three that particularly stand out to me: Passion, Saigon, and Hanoi.

They’re also quite different from one another, so which one you choose really depends on the kind of coffee you enjoy.

Passion Blend Ver. 2: My Personal Favorite

If I had to pick just one Fresh Batch coffee, it would be Passion Blend Ver. 2.

This is the coffee I’ve reordered the most.

According to Fresh Batch, Passion is an espresso blend of two Arabicas and Excelsa. It has a medium body with tasting notes of chocolate, nuts, and black cherries.

That flavor combination is right up my alley.

The chocolate and nutty notes give it the familiar richness I enjoy in coffee, while the black cherry adds a fruity character that makes the blend more interesting.

Since Passion is designed as an espresso blend, it’s also one of the coffees I particularly enjoy using with my Breville espresso machine.

I can drink it as a straight espresso or use it for a milk-based drink. It’s versatile enough that I keep finding reasons to order another bag.

More than anything, Passion has simply become familiar to me.

After trying different coffees over the years, it’s still the one I find myself coming back to.

Saigon: Full-Bodied, Strong and Robust

When I’m in the mood for something bolder, there’s Saigon.

Fresh Batch describes Saigon as 100% Vietnam Arabica with a dark roast. Its profile is full-bodied, strong, and robust.

Compared with Passion and Hanoi, Saigon sits on the more intense end of the spectrum.

It’s the kind of coffee I’d reach for when I want something with more body and a stronger presence in the cup rather than something light or delicate.

What I also find interesting is the comparison between Saigon and Hanoi.

Both use Vietnamese Arabica, but the different roast profiles give you two different approaches to the coffee.

If you generally prefer darker and stronger coffee, Saigon would be the one I’d look at first.

Hanoi: Chocolatey and Nutty

Then there’s Hanoi.

Like Saigon, Hanoi is made from 100% Vietnam Arabica, but Fresh Batch gives it a medium roast instead.

Its flavor profile is described as medium-bodied with hints of chocolate and nuts.

Those are flavors I naturally gravitate toward in coffee.

Compared with Saigon’s stronger and darker character, Hanoi offers a profile that feels more approachable if you prefer medium-roasted coffee.

There’s something comforting about chocolate and nutty flavor notes. Not every cup needs to be incredibly complex or surprising. Sometimes I simply want something familiar and enjoyable.

Hanoi left enough of an impression on me that it’s one of the Fresh Batch coffees I’d happily order again.

Passion vs. Saigon vs. Hanoi

If you’re trying Fresh Batch for the first time and deciding between these three, their profiles provide a useful starting point.

CoffeeBeansRoastFlavor Profile
Passion Blend Ver. 2Two Arabicas + ExcelsaEspresso BlendMedium-bodied, chocolate, nuts, black cherries
Saigon100% Vietnam ArabicaDark RoastFull-bodied, strong, robust
Hanoi100% Vietnam ArabicaMedium RoastMedium-bodied, chocolate, nuts

Personally, I’d choose Passion if you want to start with my favorite.

Choose Saigon if you prefer your coffee darker, stronger, and more full-bodied.

And if chocolate and nutty flavors combined with a medium roast sound more like your kind of coffee, Hanoi is worth trying.

Coffee preferences are highly personal, though. Your favorite might end up being completely different from mine, and that’s part of what makes exploring coffee interesting.

How I Brew Fresh Batch Coffee at Home

One of the reasons I enjoy buying coffee beans is being able to change the experience depending on how I brew them.

At home, I mainly rotate between my AeroPress, Hario V60, and Breville espresso machine.

Each method gives me something different.

AeroPress

Most mornings, I reach for my AeroPress.

It’s convenient and gives me the kind of balanced and comforting cup I usually want at the beginning of the day.

It’s also a fun brewer to experiment with. Small changes to grind size, water temperature, ratio, and brew time can noticeably change the final cup.

For coffees with chocolate and nutty profiles, such as Hanoi, that flexibility can be particularly enjoyable.

Hario V60

When I have more time, I bring out my Hario V60.

Pour-over is usually where I go when I want more clarity and want to pay closer attention to what a particular coffee has to offer.

There’s something relaxing about the process too.

Grinding the beans, preparing the filter, slowly pouring the water, and waiting for the coffee to draw down turns making coffee into part of the morning rather than simply a way to get caffeine.

Breville Espresso Machine

And then there’s espresso.

When I want something more concentrated or I’m making a milk-based drink, I use my Breville espresso machine.

This is where Passion naturally fits into my routine.

Since Fresh Batch describes Passion as an espresso blend, I enjoy experimenting with it as both straight espresso and in milk-based drinks. Its chocolate, nutty, and black cherry profile gives me plenty to work with.

Saigon’s stronger and darker profile can also be an interesting choice when I’m craving something more intense.

Having several brewing methods means I don’t necessarily experience a bag of coffee in just one way.

The same beans can taste surprisingly different depending on how they’re brewed.

That’s part of what keeps home brewing interesting for me.

Is Fresh Batch Coffee Beans Worth Trying?

After buying from Fresh Batch since 2020, my answer is pretty simple.

Yes, Yes! Definitely they’re worth trying.

Not because every coffee will necessarily match your personal taste, but because I’ve consistently found reasons to come back.

There’s the freshness and clearly indicated roast date.

There’s the fact that the coffee has already been given time to rest before reaching customers.

There’s the information provided about the beans, origins, roast levels, and flavor profiles.

There’s the variety of coffees to explore.

And perhaps most importantly for me, there’s genuine enthusiasm for coffee behind the business.

If I were recommending just one based on my personal preference, I’d start with Passion Blend Ver. 2.

If you prefer something stronger and darker, take a look at Saigon.

If you prefer a medium roast with chocolate and nutty notes, Hanoi would be my other pick.

This isn’t a sponsored review.

It’s simply my experience as someone who has been buying and enjoying Fresh Batch Coffee Beans since 2020.

If you’re exploring local specialty coffee roasters in the Philippines and enjoy brewing your own coffee at home, Fresh Batch is one I’d happily recommend adding to your list.

Sometimes, the best coffee isn’t just about what’s in the cup.

It’s also about the people behind it.
